Welcome. If you're here, you or someone you care about may be struggling with behavioral or emotional issues that make day-to-day relationships a challenge. I know that change can be hard, even positive change, and that making the decision to call a therapist can be a difficult. We all have the ability to be the best version of ourselves if given a safe and positive space to grow and learn. Allow me to tell you about my approach to counseling, and if you would like to meet in person, I would be happy to hear more about your concerns, your life, and how we can work together toward positive change.
I have a passion for working with children, adolescents, young adults and parents. I understand the importance of supporting the entire family system when embarking on the path to well-being. Each client and family are unique, and one of the most important parts of our work together will be building a trusting therapeutic relationship in which I work to understand my clients and their specific concerns. I take a collaborative, strengths based approach to counseling and incorporate my experience with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Family Systems Therapy to teach clients new skills and offer insights into current patterns of thoughts and behaviors. In my work with children and adolescents, I use play and artistic expression as a way to facilitate greater self awareness and growth.
I am a licensed professional counselor in the state of Tennessee. I received my Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Tennessee, and my Master of Education degree from Lincoln Memorial University in 2013. I have worked with children, adolescents and families in conflict or with behavioral and emotional issues since 2006 in a variety of clinical and advocate roles. Prior to private practice, I was a child and family therapist at a community agency and worked primarily with children and families with a history of trauma, abuse and separation. I also served as the facility director of the agency and was responsible for both clinical oversight and day-to-day business operations.
I have specialized training in Trauma Focused-Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Play Therapy, and Parent Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT). I am also a trained Collaborative Divorce Child Specialist.
