Claire Janey, LPC, NCC

Claire is a board approved Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC), and Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Tennessee specializing in the treatment of young children and their families. She received her Bachelor of Arts in psychology and Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, both from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. She will soon be credentialed as a Registered Play Therapist.

Claire is a non-directive child-centered play therapist who believes strongly in the power of the therapeutic relationship. She strives to provide a warm, safe, and fun environment for children to cope with life’s stressors. During the play therapy process, she assists young clients in navigating their internal experiences in a way that makes the most sense to them while using their most natural form of communication… play! Alongside individual counseling with children, she incorporates Child-Parent Relationship Therapy (CPRT) into her practice, as she sees fit, to strengthen the quality of parent-child attachment bonds in hopes of reducing relational stress. She enjoys working with parents, providing effective skills to utilize at home to assist in the counseling process.
