Elissa Winzenburg, MS, NCC

 

Elissa is Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC) who is pursuing licensure in the State of Tennessee. She graduated from the University of Tennessee- Knoxville with a Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling in 2019. Elissa has worked with children, adolescents, and adults in a variety of settings including residential, non-profit, and higher education.

Elissa’s therapeutic philosophy revolves around the importance of building strong and healthy relationships. She firmly believes that genuine connections are transformative and strives to create aspace where her clients feel truly seen and understood. Her approach is eclectic, drawing from a range of therapeutic theories such as Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Attachment-Based Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. This diverse toolkit allows her to tailor her methods to suit the unique needs of each client.

Specializing in areas such as anxiety, depression, relationship issues, trauma, and identity exploration, Elissa provides compassionate and personalized support to her clients. Meeting clients in their toughest moments, she offers a compassionate presence and fosters a collaborative atmosphere. Together, you will navigate challenging emotions and find strength in vulnerability. Through this partnership, she equips her clients with practical tools, guiding them towards positive change.

Elissa enjoys working with a range of client ages from elementary through adulthood. When working with kids and teens, she uses play and art based techniques to offer practical skills and in a safe, and developmentally appropriate space for feelings and experiences to be processed. Elissa works to build positive relationships with clients to help facilitate change.

Outside of work you can find Elissa spending quality time with family, friends, and her dogs. Elissa feels the most fulfilled when she engages in her hobbies including traveling, spending time in nature, playing pickleball, listening to podcasts, reading, or bingeing a good tv show.

  • Young adult individual therapy to address issues such as: anxiety, depression, phase of life transitions, self-esteem, identity, trauma, grief and loss, and more.
