Destiny White, LPC/MHSP

Destiny is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Tennessee. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Maryville College in 2013, and her Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Tennessee in 2016. Destiny has been providing counseling services to children, adolescents, and families in East Tennessee since 2016. Previously, she was a child and family therapist at a community agency and worked primarily with children and adolescents with a history of grief and loss, trauma, and adjustment.  She has experience working with families through re-unification after a period of separation as well as the adoption process.

Destiny has a passion for working with individuals across the lifespan from infancy to early adulthood.  She specializes in working with children and adolescents to address emotional and behavioral concerns related to trauma, grief & loss, and adjustment.  She recognizes the value of family and provides support for the entire family system.  She uses a collaborative approach to addressing concerns of the individual person and family.  She utilizes Child-Centered Play Therapy, Sand Tray Therapy and other creative interventions to address emotional and behavioral concerns with children. She is currently working towards the designation of Registered Play Therapist and is receiving training in Infant Mental Health. 

Destiny is an active member in the American Counseling Association, the Child and Adolescent Counseling Association, the Association of Humanistic Counseling, and the Association for Play Therapy.  She has presented on utilizing Child-Centered Play Therapy with At-Risk Youth, Play Therapy to address Childhood Trauma, and utilizing Play Therapy with Adolescents and Young Adults. She has guest lectured at the University of Tennessee on the topic of Grief and Loss for Children in the Foster Care System. 

Destiny specializes in child and adolescent therapy to address issues related to trauma, grief and loss, anxiety, depression, self-esteem and more. She also focuses on young adult individual therapy to address issues such as anxiety, depression, phase of life transitions, self-esteem, identity, trauma, grief and loss, and more as well as family therapy to address issues related to attachment, re-unification, and adoption.
