Look for 5 things around you that bring you pleasantness.

CONGRATULATIONS. You have just completed a mindfulness practice.

Mindfulness is paying attention on purpose to the present moment without judgement. Mindfulness is the practice of letting go of any thought, emotion, or impulse that runs through your head.

Allow yourself for just a few moments to trust that you don’t have to figure it out. Allow yourself to experience your life instead of trying to control it. Our brain works hard to solve problems, fix pain, and figure out why. Give your brain a break by trusting that not everything is meant for you to solve or figure out. Most things in life are just for you to experience.  Mindfulness allows you to begin experiencing your life instead of trying to figure out how to control it.

Just because you think it, doesn’t make it true.  Just because you feel it, doesn’t make it real. Just because you want to, doesn’t mean you need to.

I challenge you to experience your life.  Even if it is just for one minute. Let go of the expectations you have around a mindfulness practice and accept that mindfulness can be done anytime anywhere. It is simply paying attention to the present moment.

Ten things to pay attention to on purpose today

1.    Eating a delicious meal

2.    Talking to a loved one

3.    Listening to your favorite song

4.    Playing with your kids or animals

5.    Giving someone a hug

6.    Drinking your favorite morning drink

7.    Looking at beautiful scenery

8.    Smelling soap in the shower

9.    Putting on make up or washing your face

10.  Snuggling into bed at the end of the day

Pay attention to the pleasantness of each moment and then let it go.
