Tammy Johnson, LCSW

Tammy is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and has been in the mental health field for 14 years. She completed her undergraduate in Psychology at Phoenix University and then earned a Master’s Degree in Social Work from California State University Bakersfield. She also has a Master’s Degree in Marriage & Family Counseling with an emphasis in Christian Counseling from Liberty University. She has a Doctorate in Theology from Summit Bible College in Bakersfield, CA. Tammy is a certified Life Coach and an Internationally Certified Drug & Alcohol Counselor.

Tammy believes that family structure, life circumstances, trauma and grief can challenge the way we think and feel. Our emotions are often triggered by these life circumstances causing negative behavioral responses such as anxiety, angry outbursts, obsessive-compulsive disorders, drug addiction, alcoholism, sexual addiction, gambling, depression, and relationship conflict. The consequences of these behaviors cause heartache and pain in our lives and often have adverse effects on the people around us. Therapy can show you how negative behaviors limit your life and prevent you from living your life to the fullest potential.

With guidance you can learn how to effectively communicate with others, manage stress and anxiety, grieve your losses, and explore ways to thrive instead of just survive in life.

Tammy utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing, Family Systems, and Solution-Focused treatment orientations when working with clients. She also provides faith-based services if requested. Tammy collaborates with her clients to find the best approach for their needs and issues.
