Amanda Pinckert, LCSW

Welcome and glad you found us! My name is Amanda Pinckert, and I am a clinical social worker (LCSW) and therapist with a focus on providing support for children and their families through individual therapy services, parenting support, and family therapy services with caregivers and children (ages 2-18).

I believe that families are able to find healing when both the children and caregivers feel capable of handling challenges within a family. Challenges may include learning to regulate emotions, communicating needs, handling boundaries and expectations, accepting responsibility for choices, and engaging within the family. I often tell parents, there is a need behind the behavior we see on the surface. With this, I often include caregivers in treatment through parenting sessions aimed at helping you understand the meaning behind the behavior your child is struggling with.

My therapeutic approach includes utilizing attachment theory and developmental psychology, as I use the Attachment, Regulation and Competency (ARC) Framework to provide support for children and adolescents by strengthening the caregiving system and enhancing relational resources. I am a Level 1 Practitioner in Facilitating Attuned Interactions (FAN), a training created to support caregivers in reading emotional cues and responding with empathy and personal reflection, ultimately helping parents become more attuned to their children.

With my individual therapy work with children and adolescents, I provide play therapy services including Child-Centered Play Therapy, Adlerian Play Therapy, Jungian, Sandtray, and Creative Arts interventions. Just as adults may process their inner world and experiences through talking, play therapy allows children to process their experiences and learn new skills using their natural language of play.

In my work with families, I am trained in Child-Parent Psychotherapy, an evidence-based, attachment- and trauma-focused treatment model designed for children aged 0 to 5 who have experienced traumatic events (such as abuse, neglect, domestic violence, or loss) or are exhibiting mental health, attachment, or behavioral problems. I support both the child and the primary caregiver together in weekly sessions that use play, developmental guidance, and emotional support to help families create a joint narrative of traumatic events and improve emotional regulation. I also use family therapy models such as filial therapy and parent-child relational therapy. This approach addresses emotional and behavioral issues in children aged 3–12 through structured, non-directive play that strengthens parent-child attachment and improves family functioning. I am a trauma-informed therapist with experience working with families within the foster care system who have experienced complex trauma and providing support for PTSD and adjustment disorders. I am certified in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to support trauma processing with children ages 3-18.
