Brandi Smith, LPC/MHSP
Brandi is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Tennessee. She received her Bachelor of Science in Speech Pathology and Master of Science in Counseling from the University of Tennessee. Her work experience has been in various settings that have allowed her opportunities to assist individuals and families with difficult changes in their lives. Since 2012, she has been involved with working in a mental health counseling center. Previous work background has included supporting individuals and families in a nursing facility with short-term and long-term care programs. She has also served as a contract provider with the Families First program at DHS where she counseled individuals with barriers to successful employment. Initially after college she completed career assessments for individuals referred by Vocational Rehabilitation and the Veterans Administration.
Brandi’s specialty areas include depression, anxiety, women’s issues, and adjustment issues with changes in relationships, health, employment or school. She primarily works with teenagers and adults. She uses a combination of counseling approaches, including Cognitive-Behavior Therapy, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, and Client-Centered Therapy. She ultimately wants to create a safe environment for clients to share about their struggles. She seeks to build a trusting therapeutic relationship to help clients understand what motivates them to make positive changes. Overall, she hopes to assist clients to develop confidence in themselves to learn how to recognize and improve unhealthy thought patterns, behaviors and habits.
