Marlee Young, MSC

Marlee Young is a pre-licensed mental health counselor who received her Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Carson-Newman University. Prior to working at Knoxville Counseling Services, Marlee interned in community health, working with foster children and families, providing counseling and case management.

While making the first step to counseling can be intimidating, Marlee hopes that each client will feel supported to create a more fulfilling life, empowering them to develop skills to navigate future challenges with confidence and resilience. With a warm and inviting presence, Marlee’s intent is to meet clients exactly where they are, building a trusting therapeutic relationship from the beginning. She is excited to see clients make steps towards improved well-being and enjoys celebrating each of their big or small wins.

Within a person-centered framework, Marlee tends to incorporate modalities like Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment therapy, based on the needs of the client. She desires to help clients identify and alter unhelpful thought and behavior patterns and build practical skills to promote change and well-being. Her approach is collaborative, strength-based, and promotes holistic healing. Marlee believes that every person and their struggles are unique and is committed to providing care that is flexible and individualized.

Marlee sees clients of various ages, but primarily works with teens and adults, and welcomes people of all backgrounds. Whether you are dealing with difficult life transitions, anxiety, depression, self-esteems issues, trauma, or relational issues, Marlee offers a nonjudgmental environment that allows clients to experience self-exploration and healing. Marlee feels that it is her privilege to walk alongside people in their vulnerability, and desires to foster hope through difficult times.

When not in session, you can find Marlee spending time with her friends and family. Marlee enjoys daily walks, browsing through antique stores, exercising, going to concerts, and playing golf with her husband.

Marlee is under supervision of Courtney A. Brandon, LPC/MHSP, RPT
